BACD is a furniture design studio based in Copenhagen, founded by American architect Benjamin Ahearn and Danish architect Camilla Dahl. Since 2017 the studio has been composing a narrative between Danish and American design traditions through an evolving collection.
As an independent small-scale producer, each piece of furniture created at BACD Studio is thoughtfully designed and crafted from start to finish by skilled hands. Our original designs are developed with a holistic approach; from casework to sofas, dining tables to shelving, each detail is considered, ensuring the highest standard of quality throughout the process. Our personal connection to each piece allows for the hand of the craftsman, and the rich qualities of the raw materials to come into focus. The use of solid wood is central to the ideology of BACD Studio as the aim is to create products from natural, renewable resources. Each product developed by the studio builds upon traditional woodworking techniques; learning from past knowledge to create heirloom quality furniture. The result is elegant pieces that are durable, tactile and beautiful.
Our reverence for quality materials, skilled craft and the design traditions of both America and Denmark, has led to the creation of our growing collection of furniture. New design requests or custom specifications are welcomed as each item is made-to-order in our Copenhagen workshop. BACD Studio works to produce thoughtful, functional furniture that will remain relevant and age gracefully - an ode to the beauty of everyday life.
We would love to collaborate, be it furniture, architecture or something in-between, please get in touch.
